I’m a writer of high fantasy, literary fiction, creative nonfiction and criticism. I am proud to be represented by the John Jarrold Literary Agency and to be published by Gollancz and (soon) Del Rey.
Today I'm hard at work on a new fantasy trilogy, The Chathrand Voyage. Book One, The Red Wolf Conspiracy,
was published in the UK by Gollancz on February 1st, 2008, and will be
published in the US by Del Rey in early 2009. French, German,
Polish, Spanish and Russian translations are in the works. Book Two, The Rats and the Ruling Sea, will follow in early 2009.
My first novel, Conquistadors,
was a finalist for the 2002 AWP/Thomas Dunne Novel Award (under the
title Wilderness). An excerpt was published in the 40th anniversary
(2005) edition of Puerto del Sol. A literary adventure novel, it
follows the loves, obsessions and changes in four people caught up in
the Dirty War of late-1970s Argentina—a country where I’ve studied and
traveled since 1992.
"Uncrossed River," my memoir of some
chance encounters with the late actor River Phoenix, won the 2005 New
Millennium Writings Award for nonfiction and was published in New
Millennium Writings and later on the journal’s website.
"Palpable," another Argentina story, was a finalist for the Glimmer
Train Short Story Award, Winter 2003. I’ve also published extensively
as a stage critic. |
