I’m a writer of fantasy, mainstream fiction, creative nonfiction and criticism. I am proud to be represented by the John Jarrold Literary Agency, and to be published by Gollancz in the U.K. and Del Rey Books in the United States.
Today I'm hard at work on a new fantasy trilogy, The Chathrand Voyage. Book One, The Red Wolf Conspiracy, was published in 2008 by Gollancz and April 28, 2009 by Del Rey. Book Two, The Rats and the Ruling Sea, will follow in late 2009.
My mainstream/literary novel Conquistadors was a finalist for the 2002 AWP/Thomas Dunne Novel Award. The book follows the loves, obsessions and transformations in four people caught up in the Dirty War of late-1970s Argentina, a country where I’ve traveled and conducted research since 1992. The book is unpublished, although an excerpt appeared in the 40th anniversary (2005) edition of the journal Puerto del Sol. You can learn more about the novel here.
"Uncrossed River," my memoir of some chance encounters with the late actor River Phoenix, won the 2005 New Millennium Writings Award for nonfiction (in a tie with one other writer) and was published in New Millennium Writings and later on the journal’s website. "Palpable," another Argentina story, was a finalist for the Glimmer Train Short Story Award, Winter 2003.
I’ve also worked as a stage extensively as a stage critic, first for the Portland Phoenix (Maine/New Hampshire) and later for the Valley Advocate (Springfield/Northampton/Western MA). |
